Advanced Settings

Advanced options control models, context, tools, backups, maintenance, and diagnostics. Normal use does not require changing them.

When to use this section

The defaults are prepared for normal use. Open advanced settings when you connect several LLM providers, want to control cost or context, reduce tool access, make a backup, investigate a specific failure, or manage reusable workflows.

Change one thing at a time

Run a simple test after every change. If you reroute several models, lower the token limit, and disable tools at once, a later failure will not reveal which option caused it.

Where to find each area

B

Settings β†’ Advanced β†’ Reusable Workflows. Stores reusable instructions, also called skills.

Three different access layers

When a feature does not work, distinguish three independent requirements:

  • The service is configured: for example, an email account or Home Assistant token has been added.
  • macOS granted permission: such as Calendar, Contacts, Automation, or Full Disk Access.
  • The tool is enabled: its group is not disabled under Advanced β†’ Tool Access.

Enabling one layer does not automatically enable the others. This is an intentional safeguard and a common reason why a service is connected but Assistela cannot yet use it in Chat.

A safe troubleshooting order

  1. Verify the main Chat with the default AI account.
  2. Use the connection check on the service page.
  3. Check the required access under Settings β†’ Permissions.
  4. Verify its group under Advanced β†’ Tool Access.
  5. Only then open App History or Model Diagnostics.

If you do not know what an option means, keep its default value. Advanced settings are not required to use Assistela.
