Assistant Database
Assistant Database stores long-term lists and tabular records that grow over time and can be searched.
When to use Assistant Database
The database suits information where every new record is another row and you later want to filter, sort, or compare it. Normally you ask for creation and changes in Chat, then inspect saved tables in the main Assistant Database section.
Tracking over time
Date, product, shop, and observed price.
Measurements
Meter reading, consumption, or temperature with a date.
Project records
Decision, state, owner, and next review.
Inventory or overview
Items, location, quantity, and note.
How it differs from Memory and a file
- Memory is for compact durable facts, preferences, and context.
- Temporary Information is context with limited validity.
- Assistant Database is for many similar rows added and queried over time.
- A CSV or spreadsheet file suits a portable one-time output for another application.
For example, “I prefer morning meetings” belongs in Memory. A daily electricity-price observation belongs in Assistant Database.
Your first table step by step
Describe the purpose
In Chat, say: “Create an Assistant Database table called Coffee Prices with date, shop, product, and price.”
Review the fields
Ask for the column names and a short table description. Fields can be added later, but a simple good start is easier to use.
Add one test row
Provide one concrete record, then open Assistant Database in the sidebar.
Search and sort
Select the table, use search, choose a sort order, and browse results by page.
Managing records
In Chat, you can ask to add rows, search and filter, correct specific records, or add a new field. Renaming or deleting a table or rows is a sensitive change and can require approval.
Do not store passwords, API keys, full payment-card details, one-time codes, or other secrets in Assistant Database. Use protected Settings fields or Passwords and Cards.
