App permissions
Grant only the access required by features you actually use. Ordinary chat does not need any macOS permission.
How to grant a permission
Open Permissions
In Assistela, choose Assistela → Settings → Permissions and open the Access section.
Find the specific feature
Click Allow on the required row. If the permission is managed manually, use Open System Settings.
Approve Assistela in macOS
In the system dialog or under System Settings → Privacy & Security, enable the switch next to Assistela.
Return and refresh the status
Use Refresh in Assistela. After changing Accessibility or Screen Recording, you may need to quit Assistela completely and reopen it.
Permissions are not a required installation bundle. If you only want chat and calendar, you do not need Accessibility, Screen Recording, Mail, Messages, or Full Disk Access.
Which permission you need
Control the Mac · Accessibility
Only when Assistela should click, type, use the keyboard, or control applications.
See the screen · Screen Recording
Only for screenshots and visual context. Without it, Assistela cannot see the screen.
Mail Automation
For the macOS Mail source. macOS lists Assistela under Privacy & Security → Automation.
Notes Automation
For searching, reading, creating, and editing Apple Notes.
Messages Automation
For working with Apple Messages and sending clearly requested SMS/iMessage messages.
Finder Automation
Only when Assistela should work with Finder. This does not automatically grant access to every file.
Calendar
Full Calendar access is required to read, create, and update events.
Reminders
For reading incomplete reminders and creating or updating items.
Contacts
For searching and reading contacts from macOS Contacts.
Notifications
Only when Assistela should display local notifications on this Mac.
Local Network
Only for features communicating with devices on the same network, such as selected local services.
Full Disk Access
Optional manual permission for broader file access; on most Macs it is also needed to read recent Messages history.
Common combinations
- Chat only: no macOS permission.
- Email through Apple Mail: Mail Automation.
- Calendar and Reminders: Calendar and Reminders.
- Notes: Notes Automation.
- Control apps based on the screen: Accessibility and Screen Recording.
- Messages: Messages Automation; reading recent history may also require Full Disk Access.
If a permission does not take effect
- Check the Assistela switch directly under
System Settings → Privacy & Security. - After changing Accessibility or Screen Recording, quit with
Assistela → Quit Assistelaand reopen the app. - Return to
Settings → Permissionsand refresh the status. - If you denied a permission earlier, macOS may not show the dialog again; change it manually in System Settings.
