Contacts

The easiest option is Contacts on your Mac

If your personal or work contacts are already in the Contacts app, there is no need to copy account credentials into Assistela. Assistela uses the same contacts you see on the Mac, and macOS explicitly approves access.

Open Contacts settings

Choose Assistela → Settings → Contacts from the menu bar and select macOS Contacts on the left.

Enable the source

Turn on Allow Assistela to use macOS Contacts.

Grant macOS permission

Choose Allow in the system dialog. You can check the status under Assistela → Settings → Permissions → Contacts or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts.

Test a search

In Chat, ask something like: “Find the contact Jane Smith and show me the work email.” Start with a read, not a change.

What Assistela can do

search by name, organization, email, or phone number,
read available basic contact details,
create a new person contact,
add or update organization, email, and phone details,
delete an exactly identified contact after confirmation.

Search before creating

When you say “Add Jane Smith,” a similar contact may already exist. Ask Assistela to search first, verify an email or phone number, and only then create a new record. Before an update or deletion, always confirm that it is the correct person.

A CardDAV account

Use CardDAV when you do not want to synchronize the address book into the Contacts app or when you work with a separate company directory. Under Settings → Contacts, click + below the source list, choose a CardDAV provider, and enter:

the Server address from the provider documentation,
the Username, normally the account email,
a Password or app access key,
optionally Make default for newly created contacts.

Click Save and check account. If automatic address-book discovery fails, advanced options let you enter the CardDAV collection path manually. iCloud and accounts with two-factor authentication often require an app-specific password rather than the main account password.

A practical request

Instead of “Update Jane,” write: “Find Jane Smith with the email jane@example.com. If exactly one contact exists, add the work phone +1 555 0100. Show me the change before saving.” The more precisely you identify the person and requested change, the lower the risk of editing a similar contact.
