Mobile phone
Pair the iPhone or iPad app with Assistela on your Mac using a QR code or the pairing code and key.
How the mobile app works
The iPhone and iPad app provides secure remote access to Assistela on your Mac. The Mac remains the computer that handles requests and uses connected services. For normal use, the Mac must therefore be on, Assistela must be running, and both devices must be connected to the internet.
Complete the Mac setup first and confirm that Chat answers. Then pair the phone.
Pair with a QR code
Install the app
On your iPhone or iPad, open Assistela in the App Store, tap Get, and open the app.
Open Phone on the Mac
In Assistela for macOS, choose Assistela → Settings → Phone. Enable iPhone app pairing if it is off.
Create the QR code
Click Create pairing QR. Keep this window open on the Mac.
Scan the QR
On the iPhone, tap Scan QR Code. When iOS asks for camera access, choose Allow. Point the phone at the QR code on the Mac.
Wait for completion
The iPhone shows Waiting for Mac confirmation. Do not close Assistela on the Mac until Chat opens on the phone or pairing is confirmed.
Return to the Mac and create a new pairing QR. Do not send the pairing code and pairing key to anyone; together, they can connect another device.
Manual pairing without the camera
Below the QR code on the Mac are Pairing code and Pairing key. Enter or securely transfer them into the matching fields on the iPhone, then tap Pair manually. Do not add spaces before or after either value.
Permissions on iPhone
- Camera: required only to scan the QR code and take photos. You do not need it for manual pairing.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition: only when you want to use dictation.
- Photos: only when you want to attach images from the library.
- Notifications: optional for Assistela alerts.
- Location: optional. Enable it in the app only if the assistant should know your location; automatic location changes require Always access under
iPhone Settings → Assistela → Location.
If the connection does not work
- Confirm that the Mac is on, online, and Assistela is running.
- If the QR does not scan, increase the Mac display brightness or use manual pairing.
- If the QR expired, create a new one.
- To pair again, open
App Settings → Pairing → Log Outon the iPhone, then repeat the process.
