Services overview
Enable services one at a time. Each has its own data source, scope, and macOS permission.
What you can connect
The AI account provides answers. The following services give Assistela access to your information, applications, or devices. None of them is required for chat itself.
macOS Mail is the easiest option; a direct IMAP/SMTP account is the advanced option.
Calendar and Reminders
Apple Calendar and Reminders, or separate CalDAV and ICS accounts.
Notes
Search, read, create, append to, and update Apple Notes.
Contacts
macOS Contacts or advanced CardDAV accounts.
Home Assistant
Read state and control individually allowed smart-home devices.
Passwords and Cards
Protected local filling on allowed websites without sending secret values to the LLM.
Messages
Apple Messages, including clearly requested SMS/iMessage messages.
Files and Finder
Selected files and workspace folders; broader access is optional.
Recommended minimum for an Apple user
macOS Mail
Use the accounts already configured in the Mail app. Then choose specific mailboxes in Assistela.
macOS Calendar
Use the calendars already visible in Apple Calendar. Select only those Assistela should work with.
Optionally Reminders and Notes
Add them only when you want Assistela to work with tasks or saved notes.
IMAP/SMTP, CalDAV, CardDAV, and ICS are useful when you do not want to, or cannot, use the corresponding Apple app. Add Home Assistant and Passwords and Cards only after the basic services work and follow their safety guides.
A safe setup process
- First enable the source in its own Settings section.
- Select specific mailboxes, calendars, lists, entities, or allowed websites.
- Only then grant the matching macOS permission and tool group.
- Test the feature with a simple read-only question such as “What is on my calendar today?”
- If you stop using a service, disable its source and tool, and optionally remove the permission in macOS.
